My most recent project is a music video based around Non-Binary youths and overcoming their disapproval from their family. This 3 minute video is aimed to educate and inspire the LGBTQ+ Community and their families and hope to create a better understanding of the struggles non-binary people can have behind closed doors. This production was one of my most difficult videos to make as I made it all on my own as an actor, director, producer, camera operator and editor.
Lesbianism in the 50-60's was a highly taboo topic. Although it wasn't considered illegal in the UK for two women to be together, it was highly frowned upon so most people hid away. This production was a great achievement made during Coronavirus in 2021, were Production teams had to be at a minimum. Due to the limited people that could help out, I decided as a director to take on all roles to also challenge myself.
The research within this project taught me a lot about the history of LGBTQ+ community and allowed me to continue my hopes to create further music videos about queer pride.
During the height of the lockdown in 2020, my partner and I decided to challenge ourselves to create a music video in one day. My partner's singing inspiration is Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi so we took one of his most famous songs and quickly did a cover of it. As we had a small time limit to film, we decided to just go out on a sunny day and just film the surroundings. It was a great task to just learn a few lessons in composition, editing and natural lighting whilst having a tight schedule.
PRODUCER ROLE: BEHIND THE SCENES: PROMO PHOTOS:
Unearthed Cumbria is a production that I just happened to stumble across. A camera operating position opened up so I quickly geared up with 2 days notice and learnt the camera moves for this 30 minute live television production.
Hidden Cumbria 2021 - Camera Operator:
Live TV productions were something completely different for me. I had never worked on a set under that much time pressure. Operating a camera live was a crazy experience but definitely something I would love to do again.
In 2017, I wanted to practice my editing skills within music video so checked what available dancers my college had, and politely asked if they could do a 30 second dance sequence that I could edit together. We spent the day travelling around the town and finding interesting spots to dance and film at, and honestly just enjoyed messing around and experiment.
2016 - Move Your Body, SIA.
This music video was my first go at directing. I wanted to show off how amazing different sports are and the dedication that athletes have. As I was a cheerleader at the time, this project meant a lot to me as I wanted to show that cheerleading is a powerful sport with dedicated, strong athletes that pour their all into their sport.
